John Keyser

John Keyser is the founder and CEO of Common Sense Leadership. He works with very senior executives as a leadership consultant and coach, helping them develop high energy and loyal organizational cultures and teamwork, which invariably lead to outstanding financial results.

John’s coaching helps executives become their best selves as leaders through
understanding the key qualities of highly effective leadership and establishing a spirit of striving for continuous improvement and helpful feedback among team members.

Each week, John writes Ideas & Advice about leadership, and sometimes about career advancement, specific leadership competencies, helpful advice for women in their careers and other topics he feels will be of value to his clients and other readers. He also leads webinars and speaks at company events and industry conferences.

Following a long career as a senior executive with Johnson & Higgins, and following a merger, with Marsh & McLennan, John became Executive Director of the Damon Runyon Cancer Research Foundation and then headed development for the Georgetown University Medical Center.

Throughout his career, John has been involved with numerous charitable organizations, often at a board of directors and or committee chair level, in New York, ChIcago and Washington, D.C. The mission of these organizations have been education, health care, sports, the arts, and equality for women in business and in athletics.

John is a liberal arts graduate of Georgetown and also their Leadership Coaching program, and is active locally and globally with International Coach Federation. He has two grown children, recently had a third grandson, and now lives in Bethesda, MD with his wife, Leland, and two teen age stepchildren.
