Christy M. Pruitt-Haynes

Christy M. Pruitt-Haynes, SPHR, a native of Nashville, TN, began her career at Bridgestone/Firestone, Inc. as an intern with INROADS, Inc. Having completed her BS at the University of Maryland in Personnel and Labor Relations, Christy entered the field of human resources by starting a recruiting, training and placement company that worked exclusively with individuals coming out of alcohol and drug rehab centers and homeless shelters. She went on to work in various HR capacities with Shoney’s Inc., Robert Half International, Advanced Receivables Strategy, Inc. and ADT Security Services.

Christy returned to Nashville after a 3 year stint in Memphis, TN as the HR Director for the NBA Franchise Memphis Grizzlies. As the youngest HR Director in the NBA, she handled all aspects of human resources including staffing, benefits, employee relations, policy creation, training, strategic planning and compensation structure design.

Staying with the entertainment industry, Christy then served as HR Director for CMT and MTV Networks Nashville. In this role, her primary responsibility was to promote positive business results by ensuring all HR initiatives aligned with and supported the goals of the organization. From growing ratings to deepening the fan experience, the Human Resources department, led by Pruitt-Haynes, directly or indirectly touched every aspect of the business, which has allowed Christy to add the broadcast and cable industry feather to an already decorated hat.

Currently, Christy is focused on offering her Organizational Development and Human Resources expertise to a variety of organizations as a highly sought after HR and OD Consultant, facilitator, trainer and mediator.

Christy has presented on a variety of topics including defining and achieving organizational excellence, business diversity, building an effective team, communication for results and many others. Her recent audiences include the International Conference on Diversity, INROADS and various organizations.

Having recently relocated to Montgomery, AL, Christy serves as the Room Parent for the 3rd grade and Room Parent Coordinator for the 7th grade at Saint James School where she is also the Band Boosters Treasurer for the Saint James Marching Ban. In the past she has volunteered with Girls Scouts of Middle Tennessee as a Troop Leader, University School of Nashville as a Room Parent and Library Coordinator, INROADS, Inc., St. Jude Hospital and MIFA/Families First Mentor Program. She also served on the Board of Directors for Residential Services, Inc. and the YWCA of Middle Tennessee.

Christy was the 2011 Nashville Emerging Leader’s Award recipient in the Human Resources category. She received her SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation in 2003 and is a member of American MENSA, NAMIC, CTHRA and the Society of Human Resources Management.

Christy is a proud member of a very tight knit family including, but in no way limited to, her husband, Dr. Julian Magee, 8 year old daughter, Christiana and 12 year old niece, Nia.
